I am a professional copy-editor, proofreader and qualified lawyer with over 8 years’ editorial experience in the publishing industry.
As a solicitor I specialised in family law for a major London law firm. I then worked as an assistant editor for Lawpack Publishing for over 8 years. I edited books, how-to guides, online forms and web content on subjects such as wills and probate, divorce and separation, tenancy law, property law, powers of attorney, business and tax. I was responsible for ensuring that text written by lawyer authors was edited to make it understandable and accessible to the lay consumer.
I trained with the UK’s top industry-recognised training organisations: The Publishing Training Centre and the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading.

My legal training and in-house publishing experience mean that I can follow a brief and meet deadlines. I offer excellent skills in relation to attention to detail and client care. I also have good writing skills acquired by writing articles for legal journals, websites, newsletters and seminar notes. I can work in a variety of formats: Word (Track changes), Adobe Acrobat (PDF) and on paper.
I particularly enjoy helping authors to communicate complex ideas to non-specialist readers. I have a sensitive touch when editing and make constructive suggestions to improve an author’s work without losing their unique voice.
